Mixing passion with flavours
Savvy and Sophisticated, just like you, the Negroni’s origins date back to Italy in 1919 when a Florence bartender was asked by Count Camillo Negroni to give his favourite cocktail, the Americano, a bit of a kick by swapping the soda for gin and the now iconic Negroni was born. Ernest Hemmingway enjoyed a few too many glasses, he even named one of his dogs after it!
A classic bitter-sweet gin-based cocktail, the Alembiq Negroni has been crafted with arduous care using the best bespoke ingredients at our craft distillery.
Our gin is based on Tempranillo grape alcohol grown in the Rioja region of Northern Spain. An eclectic mix of botanicals including fresh juniper, pistachio, licorice, raspberry and lemon peel amongst others, is added to create a unique tasting gin. To this we add our craft sweet red vermouth and our own 'secret' bitter liqueur to give our Negroni a rich flavour with layers of complexity from the aromatics.
It’s exceptionally smooth with a uniquely pleasing balance of sweetness and bitterness.
Specifications: 50cl. 25% ABV.
Pour 80ml or 90ml of the Negroni in a rock glass filled with a couple of large ice cubes. Stir gently. Twist an orange peel over the glass to release the aromatic oils. Garnish with an orange wedge or peel. And that’s it! Alembiq Negroni is ready to drink and enjoy! Unwinding after work, getting together with friends or entertaining guests, the Negroni is the perfect aperitif. Take a sip, sit back and let your mind wander to happy memories.
Add 50ml (or as much as you want) of soda, Prosecco or Cava to create a Spritz style drink for those languid summer afternoons.
Our Espresso Martini honours the London based bartender who joined the history books in the early 1980's with his weirdly pleasing, widely enjoyed recipe that he created for a customer who wanted a drink to “wake her up, and f**k her up”.
The signature ingredient in the Alembiq Espresso Martini is our Tempranillo grape alcohol-based vodka – oh so uncommon and oh so special. It is then blended with 100% natural cold brew espresso from café Arabica and our own craft coffee liqueur with just a hint of vanilla and orange liqueurs to create a luxuriously rich cocktail.
Specifications: 50cl. 20% ABV.
Pour 80ml or 90ml of the Espresso Martini in a shaker filled with cracked ice cubes. Shake vigorously for a nice foamy head. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 3 coffee beans. And voila! Espresso Martini is ready for you to indulge in some sweet deliciousness. Have it as post-dinner dessert or whenever you fancy!
How about adding some shaved chocolate over the cocktail or shaking it with a little bit of cream-based liqueur? We promise, you will not regret it!!
The Manhattan cocktail was created more than a century ago and like many cocktails, its origins are lost in time. Legend says it was made in the early 1880’s for a party held at the Manhattan Club in New York by the mother of Sir Winston Churchill. Truth or fiction, doesn’t matter as this classic is regarded as one of the best cocktails to have ever been served. It has never slipped out of vogue and is loved and enjoyed worldwide.
The Alembiq version of Manhattan takes whisky from our craft distillery, a triple-distilled single malt with grains from the Castille region of Spain that has been aged in oak barrels previously used for Rioja and Pedro Ximénez wines. It is then mixed with our special aromatic bitters and sweet red vermouth to give a distinctive fruity, woody, not too sweet, not too dry, slightly bitter taste.
It’s different, it’s special. And you’ll love it!
Specifications: 50cl. 25% ABV.
Pour 80ml or 90ml of the Manhattan in a large glass or shaker filled with cracked ice cubes. Stir vigorously till properly chilled. Fine strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry or with a twist of lemon peel.
And that’s it! Alembiq Manhattan is ready for you to put your feet up, sip and relax in good company. Enjoy it as an aperitif or digestif.
Probably better not to get creative here. But let us know if you come up with something special and we’ll give it a try!
